Classes
What to expect
The general work out program includes stretching, breathing exercises that are known as Qi-gong exercises, warm-up drills, moving and coordination drills, self-defense techniques, and forms training in both northern and southern styles. Students will learn how to apply and escape from holds, joint locks, throws, and takedowns while developing the proper technique for quick strikes and submissions. Once a student is ready they will begin to learn various forms that will reinforce various attack and defense techniques.
All Levels are welcome
Rules and Procedures
- The class work out will begin promptly at 8:30pm every Monday and Wednesday. If you are late please come in quietly, let the teacher know you have arrived, and get stretched out before joining the group.
- Although there is no uniform, there will be a dress code. Students are to wear black pants or shorts and a plain t-shirt. Ideally all students will eventually purchase a pair of kung-fu pants, which have a elastic at the waist and ankles.
- Never use a piece of training equipment in class with out first getting permission from the person who owns it.
- Always be curious and polite towards your fellow students. If you are having problems with someone, please tell the teacher right away.
- Never workout if you are not feeling good. Training while you are sick or tired will only make you feel worse and could lead to injuries.
Location
Classes are held Monday and Wednesday nights from 8 to 10pm at Peterson Gym on the SDSU campus. Visitor parking is available next door to the gym.
